About

About the Alcorn Memphis Alumni Chapter

Proud HBCU Alumni. Rooted in Alcorn. Rising in Memphis.

Who We Are and Why We Exist

The Alcorn Memphis Alumni Chapter was founded by Alcorn State graduates who saw something missing — a formal, organized presence for Alcorn Braves in Memphis.

Today, our chapter connects hundreds of alumni and supporters across Shelby County. We host events, award scholarships, partner with community organizations, and show up every fall at the Southern Heritage Classic.

We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Your membership dues and donations are tax-deductible contributions that go to real students at one of America’s great HBCUs.

Our Mission

To unite, engage, and empower Alcorn State University alumni in Greater Memphis through scholarship, community service, and meaningful connections — advancing the legacy of Alcorn and investing in the students who carry it forward.

Our Vision

A Memphis community where every Alcorn State graduate is connected, every deserving student is supported, and the purple and gold is known as a symbol of excellence across the mid-South.

Proud HBCU Alumni. Rooted in Alcorn. Rising in Memphis.

Alcorn State University has been shaping leaders since 1871 — the oldest public HBCU in Mississippi. Its legacy is woven into the history of Black excellence in America. We carry that legacy into everything we do.
